Fire suppression systems are automatic systems that detect a fire and put it out at the source within seconds, without anyone needing to be there. Heat, smoke or flame detection triggers the release of an extinguishing agent: clean agent gas, CO₂, dry powder, foam or wet chemical.

The type of fire suppression depends on what you need to protect, such as:

• Data centres and electrical panels in biomass, CHP and buildings: a gaseous clean agent, which leaves no residue.
• Industrial and storage areas: sprinklers, foam or dry chemicals
• Commercial kitchens: wet chemical.

We started out as machinery operators ourselves, designing fire protection for our own equipment before offering it to other Devon businesses.

Yes. We install automatic systems on combine harvesters, tractors, foragers and other agricultural machinery. Chaff, dust and crop debris can build up around hot engines, exhausts and turbochargers. An ILP system routes detection tubing past these hotspots and discharges automatically, even when the operator is in the cab or the machine is parked in a shed. No. Our fire suppression systems are triggered by a loss of pressure in the detection tube, not by electronics. That suits remote barns, outlying yards and mobile plant across Devon, where a power supply can’t be relied on. Optional interfaces can still connect the system to alarms, power shut-offs or a building management system where power is available.

Yes. Sawmills, wood recyclers and biomass plants handle fine dust and combustible material close to hot machinery. We install suppression on their mobile plant, machinery and electrical panels. We also provide fire protection for renewable energy sites, including biomass, Combined Heat & Power (CHP) and Waste-to-Energy.

Yes, for new vehicles. Under UNECE Regulation 107, new buses and coaches carrying more than 22 passengers must have an approved automatic fire suppression system in the engine compartment. Our ILP systems use Dry Chemical ABC Powder and are fully R107 compliant. Older vehicles can be retrofitted too.

At least once a year. Some insurers require a service every 6 months. Each visit checks and tests every component, keeps the system compliant with standards such as BS EN 15004 and BS 5306, and catches minor faults early. Ongoing maintenance contracts are available.
